History of JAS
1920s–1930s
First clubs where children are taught to explore various sciences and carry out experiments emerge.
1950
The First Scientific and Practical Conference of Students is held in Kyiv.
2000
The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine supports JAS and issues an act “On enhancing the role of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in its work with creative youth” and appoints Stanislav Dovgyi as the President of JASU.
February 2010
This is the period of reorganization. JAS becomes the Ukrainian National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
September 2010
JAS receives the status of the National Centre. Its new title is the National Centre “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”!
September 2018
The JAS receives the status of the Copernicus Academy that gives access to data from 29 European satellites for Ukrainian students and researchers. Thus, they are allowed to participate in international activities of remote sensing of the Earth.
September 2020
The JAS opens the Science Museum – the first interactive state museum in Ukraine.
October 2021
JAS is changing its visual identity, launches a new website and an educational digital platform
1947
The first scientific association of school students "Science and Technology Student Society" emerges in Kyiv.

Junior academies of sciences for students and scientific associations of students emerge in different regions of Ukraine.
2004
From now on, JAS is an extracurricular educational institution “Junior Academy of Sciences of Students”!
April 2010
From now on, JAS is an institution that seeks, finds, and supports talented Ukrainian children. It is an official decision of the Government's Economic and Social Development Programme of Ukraine!
2018
The JAS receives the globally recognised status of the Category 2 Science Education Centre under the auspices of UNESCO. Thus, it becomes the first and only educational institution in Ukraine with such a status.
2019/2020 academic year
The JAS has over 146 permanent partners in the fields of education, science, diplomacy, and museum affairs in 35 countries around the world.
November 2020
The main JAS project – the All-Ukrainian contest-presentation of scientific research projects among JAS students – is updated and is held online for the first time.
